چکیده

We prove the existence of the double scaling limit for unitary invariant ensembles of random matrices with non analytic potentials. The limiting reproducing kernel is expressed in terms of solutions of the Dirac system of differential equations with a potential defined by the Hastings-McLeod solution of the Painleve II equation. Our approach is based on the construction of the perturbation expansion for the system of string equations.

The bosonic IIB matrix model, which contains the bosonic part of the IIB matrix model conjectured to be a non-perturbative definition of the type IIB superstring theory, is studied using a numerical method. The large N scaling behavior of the model is shown performing a Monte Carlo simulation. The expectation value of the Wilson loop operator is measured and the string tension is estimated. Fro...

Double scaling limit for matrix models with non analytic potentials

We study the double scaling limit for unitary invariant ensembles of randommatrices with non analytic potentials and find the asymptotic expansion for the entries of the corresponding Jacobi matrix. Our approach is based on the perturbation expansion for the string equations. The first order perturbation terms of the Jacobi matrix coefficients are expressed through the Hastings-McLeod solution ...

We investigate a (1+1)-dimensional classical field theoretic model with the field potential V (φ) = |φ|. It can be obtained as the universal small amplitude limit in a class of models with potentials which are symmetrically V-shaped at their minima, or as a continuum limit of certain mechanical system with infinite number of degrees of freedom. The model has an interesting scaling symmetry of t...

The Continuous Series of Critical Points of the Two-matrix Model at N → ∞ in the Double Scaling Limit

The critical points of the continuous series are characterized by two complex numbers l1,2(Re(l1,2) < 0), and a natural number n(n ≥ 3) which enters the string susceptibility constant through γ = −2 n−1 . The critical potentials are analytic functions with a convergence radius depending on l1 (or l2). We use the orthogonal polynomial method and solve the SchwingerDyson equations with a techniqu...
